About Me

Kaylene has a BA from Utah State University in ECE. She has lived in Utah, New York, Maryland, Oregon and is currently living in Colorado. She raised 5 children in Oregon where she also worked as a Manager for two family owned businesses. She later pursed a short seven year career in Early Childhood Education as both a teacher and in management. Now living in Colorado with her husband, she is enjoying her dream home, visiting grandkids as often as possible, watercoloring and relishing the sun on a daily basis. As a Painter:
I have always wanted to try painting and when I retired, I started watercoloring. The techniques have been fun to learn and experiment with.
I recently moved to Colorado after living in Oregon for 18 years. Over my lifetime, I have experienced the ocean, gardening, hiking, writing, teaching, camping, snowstorms (I grew up in Utah), thunderstorms (I lived in Oregon)and most importantly being a wife and mother. Since I started watercoloring, I have painted all these subjects. I am still in the process of finding where my real talents and passion lie.
A goal I have set for myself is to keep a journal of my painting and to eventually paint in themes.
This being my second year, I have chosen 15 paintings from last year's work to repaint. I am finding that repainting the same painting is an excellent teaching source for me.
I like to look at famous artist's work and determine the elements of art.
I have so much to learn and am loving it.

As a person:
I have always loved the beauty of the outdoors. Growing up I spent hours exploring lakes and woods while my father went fishing. The only part about fishing I liked was catching the night crawlers and putting them on the hook.
I am a mother, wife, sister, daughter, grandmother and enjoy many friends.
I also enjoy music and writing children's literature.
Gardening is another hobby. My husband will say about me, "I do dirt."
I have a BA in ECE and worked many years in the Education as both a teacher and a manager.

On a personal note:
I am a very spiritual person. I have a testimony of Jesus Christ and I believe our gifts and talents are from God. I am hopeful as my skills improve that I can turn to paintings that reflect my family history and testimony of Christ. In the meantime, I am happy to be learning and growing in that direction.
